Tripoli, 26 July 2013:
The security situation in Libya was “under control” Interior Minister Mohamed Sheikh said at Wednesday’s press . . .[restrict]conference..
Referring to, and despite Tuesday’s three attacks in Benghazi, Sirte and Tripoli, which he blamed on former inmates released by the Qaddafi regime during the revolution, the Interior Minister assured his audience that “work is progressing systematically” in the integration of militia members and members of the Supreme Security Committee (SSC).
Sheikh said that about 17,000 former militia members and members of the SSC had been integrated into the official security forces so far.
Security has its needs, he pleaded, referring to the difficult post revolutionary environment that the weak Libyan state finds itself in. [/restrict]
