Benghazi, 5 July 2013:
The French honorary consul in Benghazi and his wife were uninjured after a gunman had fired . . .[restrict]ten shots into their vehicle on Thursday evening.
In what one source close to the investigation described as “a miraculous escape” Jean Dufriche and his wife were both unharmed, even though ten bullets penetrated their soft-skinned vehicle.
Dufriche, who works for the Benghazi Medical Centre, was driving away from a dinner meeting at a restaurant at around 11:15 pm. Another car with two occupants came alongside and one man began firing with a pistol. The attackers then drove off.
Dufriche, who has lived in Benghazi for around two years, is reported to have left the city today. [/restrict]
