Benghazi 5 July 2013:
It appears that a bomb placed in a popular Benghazi shopping area may have gone off . . .[restrict]prematurely at around about 3 pm. Had it detonated an hour later in the Alhadk area, near the police station, the street would have been crowed with pre-Ramadan shoppers.
As it was there were no injuries from the explosion. Nevertheless, the powerful device severely damaged five shops and blew out surrounding windows. The privately-run Alsafoa Clinic was not far from the blast. The device is thought to have been planted close to the entrance to the Khalid bin Walid football club.
