Benghazi, 23 May 2013:
Security forces have seized a mass of weapons in a Benghazi suburb. The weapons were being stored in two neighbouring houses in the city’s Gwarsha district.
Military intelligence was alerted to the existence of the cache by a tip-off. It resulted in the premises being kept under surveillance before they were raided yesterday. Special forces seized both heavy weapons including anti-tank missiles, as well light arms. One man was arrested and is now being interrogated.
It has not been disclosed who was holding the arms nor whether they were to be smuggled out of Libya or for use by militants or terrorists within the country. [/restrict]
