Tobruk International Airport was officially opened yesterday.
The first international passenger flight, to Alexandria in Egypt, took off . . .[restrict]on in front of high-level officials, members of the Scouts and a group of local residents. The sixty passengers had each paid LD 235 for the return flight.
Tobruk, the oldest airport in Libya, had previously only offered internal flights.
Flights to Alexandria will be twice a week. Further destinations will be added in the future, including to Jordan, Tunisia and Turkey.
