Libya Movie Awards start tonight

Tripoli, 25 April 2013:

A film festival, part of the . . .[restrict]Libya Movie Awards, starts tonight at 5pm at the Mahari/Radisson Blu hotel’s theatre.

The three-day festival, which has been organised by the EU, in partnership with the Italian Cultural Institute and NGO 1Libya, will show the best short films made by up-and-coming young Libyan filmmakers. These have been chosen from films entered into the Libya Movie Awards competition.

“It’s been very gratifying to see the huge interest by young filmmakers from all over Libya in taking part in this film competition, which is of the first of its kind in Libya,” said Project Manager for  1Libya, Aya Al-Amead. “We look forward to seeing more activities like this in the future and hope to continue receiving support from our partners.”
