Tripoli, 26 April, 2103:
Several dozen Egyptians staged a protest outside the Egyptian consulate Benghazi’s Fuwaihat district today in protest . . .[restrict]at what they claimed was their ill-treatment in Libya.
They alleged their human rights were being violated and that Egyptians had even been murdered, and nothing done. They demanded the Egyptian authorities intervene on their behalf and ensure that they earned “a decent livelihood in Libya”. During the demonstration they were reported to have attacked a car belonging to Libyan man.
The demonstration is said to have ended when a neighbour came out of his house and fired several shots into the air, at which point the demonstrators fled.
