Tripoli, 22 April 2013:
The 32nd African Volleyball Championship is being held in the capital this week, hosted by the Ahli Tripoli . . .[restrict]Club.
Seventeen African clubs, including three teams from Libya, have come from across the continent to compete. The winner of the championship will qualify for a place in the Volleyball World Cup, which will be held in Brazil.
The opening ceremony of the championship was attended by Prime Minister Ali Zeidan and Abdulsalam Abdullah Guaila, the Minister of Youth and Sport.
Head coach of the Ethiopian team, Nigussie Alemi, told the Libya Herald that it was a fantastic ceremony, adding that everything had been well-organised.
“We are not peacemakers,” Alemi said, “We have come here to win.”
