Drones are being used to gather . . .[restrict]information for the Libyan Air Force

Tripoli, 17 March 2013:

Unmanned Libyan drone aircraft are being used for the first time by the Libyan Air Force, to carry out inspection tasks.

The head of the army’s air defences, Brigadier-General Juma Hussein El-Abani, said yesterday, Saturday, that drones were being used in the operations and inspections division of his branch. The aircraft will carry out aerial surveillance and gather information, which will be relayed to the division as part of its radar operations.

El-Abani was speaking at a ceremony to mark the second anniversary of the start of the revolutionaries striking back at Qaddafi’s air power with the support of the NATO air campaign. [/restrict]
