Tripoli, 21 March 2013:
Tripoli’s Joint Security Force carried out a series of raids last night, Wednesday, throughout the capital on premises being . . .[restrict]used by criminal gangs. At one building, a Libyan family, which had been held illegally and apparently subjected to torture, was found and freed.
The premises were occupied by a group said to be conducting unauthorised investigations and making arrests, according to the Interior Ministry’s spokesperson, Magdi Al-Arafi.
In another raid, alcohol was seized. The authorities confiscated 40 bottles of alcohol along with car ownership booklets and identity documentation in a building alleged to be a criminal headquarters in the Salahuddin area.
Weapons and ammunition were seized in both raids.
The alleged criminals have had their cases referred to the Criminal Investigation Department. [/restrict]
