Benghazi, 18 March 2013:
The Economy Minister Mustafa Abofanas was in Benghazi today, Monday, to confer with members of the city’s business . . .[restrict]community on plans to grow the Libyan economy.
At a meeting this evening, attended by the head of Benghazi Local Council, Mahmoud Burazeiza, the minister canvassed the needs of Benghazi businesses and the difficulties they face. Businessmen stressed the importance of changing several rules and regulations from the Qaddafi era that seriously affect their activities. They also called for action on planned projects in Benghazi.
Also among matters discussed were the government’s plans for economic decentralisation which in the case of Benghazi means launching a free trade zone in the city and setting up a Benghazi International Trade Fair. Both are expected to help develop the city’s economic life.
Last Thursday, Abofanas told the Libya Herald that he would be announcing the site for the trade fair while in Benghazi. [/restrict]
