Tripoli, 3 February 2013:
The army has reinforced its presence in Bani Walid with the arrival today of a motorised unit of 35 vehicles, to be attached to the brigade securing the city.
There is to be a meeting this Tuesday between the military governor of Bani Walid and young people in the city. The idea is to seek agreement on how the city will be secured on 15 February and how demonstrations in the city centre will be policed.
The authorities are anxious that there shall be no damage to property nor clashes with security forces. There is particular concern that “outlaws and thieves” may seek to take advantage of any confrontations between citizens and the police and military. The army is reportedly planning to headquarter its operations at Bani Walid airport.
