Lufthansa and its subsidiary Austrian Airlines have cancelled all flights to Libya.
Lufthansa spokesman Aage Duenhaupt confirmed that . . .[restrict]its flights between Tripoli and Frankfurt have been cancelled, starting today.
“The reason for the decision was the current development of the local circumstances and the tense situation in the region,” Duenhaupt told the Libya Herald.
He added that Lufthansa’s daily flight between Frankfurt and Tripoli would resume “as soon as the situation eases.”
Patricia Strampfer, spokesperson for Austrian Airlines, confirmed to the Libya Herald that, from today, Tuesday, the Austrian Airlines route to Vienna has also been cancelled, citing the same reason as Lufthansa.
British Airways, however, said today that it is continuing its Libya schedule. BA’s Tripoli office “We continue to review the situation and we are currently operating to Libya three times a week.” [/restrict]
