Tripoli, 8 February 2013:
The Appeal Court has upheld the Integrity Commission’s disbarment of Brigadier General Saqr Adam Geroushi on the basis . . .[restrict]that he was compromised by his involvement with the Qaddafi regime. An announcement was made the Commission’s spokesman, Nasser Bennour, who said that the General Staff had been informed of the decision by the Commission so that it would be implemented.
Geroushi was disbarred on 4 January and Brigadier Ahmed Habib Al-Mismari was appointed to replace him temporarily as head of the air force on 12 January pending an appeal.
It is unclear as yet whether the General Staff will now decide that it has reached the end of the road with Geroushi or await a further appeal by him to the Supreme Court.
The disbarment decision is not the only legal challenge he is facing. On 18 January he was also indicted by a military court on ten charges, including theft and fraud. [/restrict]
