Tripoli, 22 January 2013:
The terrorists who killed 37 foreigners at Algeria’s Tigantourine gas processing plant near In Amenas last week, did indeed have . . .[restrict]support from Libya, an Islamist source has contended.
The claim, made to AFP, by what the French news agency described as “a source close to hard-line Islamist groups in Libya”, said that logistical support was provided from Libya, but did not specify what form this took. The source did maintain, however, that Libyan Islamists had helped the attackers establish contact with the media.
There still remain contradictory reports about the attack. Government sources have said that the terrorists entered Algeria from Mali, while local news agencies, including state-owned Numidia News, have asserted that they came from Libya, wore Libyan military uniforms and drove vehicles with Libya licence plates.
