Tripoli, 9 January:
A submarine communications cable connecting Benghazi and Brega was cut today, Wednesday, bringing chaos to Benghazi. Telephone and internet . . .[restrict]links, including international telephone communications, were disrupted and international and domestic flights in and out of the city’s Benina aiport had to be cancelled.
The cable is though to have been cut by a dredger. It happened early in the morning.
Speaking at today’s cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Ali Zeidan said that work was underway to repair the break. The Minister of Communications, Osama Siala said he expected it to be done quickly. [/restrict]
