Over 400 illegal immigrants deported from Benghazi

Tripoli, 19 December:

Authorities in Benghazi deported 96 Egyptian illegal immigrants back to their country of origin yesterday, Libyan news agency LANA . . .[restrict]reported.

Mustafa Wasia, head of the unit responsible for tackling illegal immigration, said medical tests had shown that most of those deported were suffering from serious illnesses, such as hepatitis.

He said that in recent days a further 350 immigrants from Chad, Niger, Egypt, Somalia and Sudan had also been deported by his team. [/restrict]
