Tripoli, 18 December:
The Libyan coastguard confiscated on Monday a life buoy stuffed with drugs and toxic substances that was floating on the Mediterranean off the central Libyan coast.
Navy spokesman Ayub Amru Qasem told the Libyan national news agency that the buoy was discovered by the coastguard of Misrata and Sirte and that it contained a considerable quantity of drugs and “white powder toxins”. It is not clear what the latter term refers to.
