Tripoli, 8 November:
Displaced Syrians in Libya are to be excused from paying hospital fees, according to a statement from Abdullah Al-Jarid, . . .[restrict]head of Administration and Medical Affairs at the Ministry of Health on Tuesday.
Jarid added that the move was at the request of Deputy Health Minister Omran Turabi and that the exemption would last until the conflict in Syria was over and the refugees could return home.
Libya has taken a strongly pro-uprising stand in regard to Syria. It is the only country to have recognised the anti-Assad regime Syrian National Council. Last week, it was announced that it was the council’s primary funder, having given it $20 million over the past year.
Since the uprising, many hundreds of Syrians have been given refuge in Libya.
