Tripoli, 19 September:
Interior Minister Fawzi Abdulal has appointed Colonel Salah Al-Din Awad Doghman as Assistant Undersecretary at the Interior Ministry with . . .[restrict]responsibility for eastern Libya.
On 12 September, just hours after the killing of US ambassador Chris Stevens and three other American diplomats in Benghazi, the cabinet meeting in emergency session decided to sack Wanis Sharif as Deputy Interior Minister with responsibility for the region. Also sacked was Hussein Abu Humaida, the head of the Security Directorate in Benghazi.
An announcement appointing Doghman to both jobs, as head of the directorate and taking over Sharif’s work, was issued on 16 September.
However, it was not decided at the time if he would be made a deputy minister.
The present government has just days to run.
