A joint operation by the Border Force and the Air Defence Unit on Tuesday morning has put a stop . . .[restrict]to one of the largest human trafficking operations ever seen in Libya, according to unconfirmed reports.
Muftah Omar Hamza, commander of the Ali Hassan Al-Jaber Battalion, said that a raid was carried out south of the Emsaed crossing on the Egyptian border, involving Battalion 71 of the Border Force and a MiG-21 fighter jet.
According to Hamza around 120 illegal immigrants were captured, most are thought to be of Bangladeshi nationality. He said that the operation would continue in order to track down all the smugglers involved and that the border crossing would remain under tight security. [/restrict]
