Tripoli, 31 August:
Members of the National Congress been debating what level of remuneration they should receive and have voted overwhelmingly to award themselves the same salary as the prime minister.
170 congressmen voted in favour of the deal, with just 30 voting against.
The current prime minister, Abdurrahim Al-Kib, has chosen not to be paid any salary at all, and the remuneration package for his replacement, who is due to be announced on 8 September, is not yet known.
However, Kib’s deputy prime ministers are currently each paid 11,000 dinars per month.
