An operation by the border forces has confiscated two boat-loads of smuggled sheep at the port of Emsaad, according . . .[restrict]to official reports. Muftah Omar Hamza, the commander of the Ali Hassan Jabir Battalion, which carried out the operation along with Battalion 409 and Border Control Battalion 71, said that the smugglers were Libyan and Egyptian nationals, and tha the sheep were suspected of carrying diseases.
Last week the same battalion, in cooperation with the air defence unit, reportedly put a stop to one of the largest human trafficking operations ever seen in Libya, apprehending around 120 illegal immigrants, mostly thought to be Bangladeshi.
