Tripoli, 16 July:
Egyptian security forces in Alexandria have arrested an unnamed Libyan national involved in an assault on one of their . . .[restrict]security patrols.
The incident, which took place on Saturday, involved three men driving a Libyan-registered minibus. According to the Burj Al-Arab Police department, the attack began after the vehicle was stopped for a routine inspection at a checkpoint outside Alexandria. The vehicle attempted to flee the scene but was prevented from doing so when police blocked its path.
The police added that the driver of the vehicle was running from a one-year prison sentence, which they said may have explained the occupants’ reaction to being stopped.
