Celebrations for the reopening of the National Security Directorate headquarters in Beida, the regional capital of Aljabal Al-Akhdar were . . .[restrict]held on 18 July.
The buildings have undergone extensive maintenance work, partially funded by the Turkish government. The Ministry of the Interior provided security equipment.
The complex now contains a joint operations room to enhance security in the region. This will coordinate the operations of the National Security Directorate, the Supreme Security Committee, the Thuwar Brigades, the National Army and the Department of Homeland Security.
The ceremony included the singing of the national anthem, a military parade and a reading from the Holy Koran. Poems were also read and the families of martyred revolutionary fighters were honoured.
The national flag was raised over the refurbished building, to the cheers of security personnel, representatives of various civil institutions and a group of local residents. [/restrict]
