Benghazi, 15 July:
A fight broke out in front of the Benghazi Medical Centre yesterday after a car crash in the parking . . .[restrict]lot turned violent.
According to the Benghazi branch of the SSC, those involved in the incident, who may have been inebriated, started fighting amongst themselves over who was responsible. When a member of the SSC intervened to try and break-up the fight, the assailants turned on him, brandishing their weapons and tearing his military uniform.
The SSC man called for back-up, but not before another group of assailants joined the fighting, one of them allegedly brandishing a RPG launcher.
With the situation spiralling out of control, there were attempts by the mob to attack the Medical Centre itself, although the SSC managed to prevent this.
The SSC praised the courage of doctors at the hospital who continued with their work throughout the incident. [/restrict]
