Sebha, 2 June:
A sit-in was staged outside Sebha’s civil records office by local residents on Wednesday.
Those involved in the protest claim . . .[restrict]they have been angered by what they allege to be the office’s chronically inefficient and nepotistic modus operandi.
The office is responsible for issuing registration and certification documents for such things as births, weddings, and deaths.
It has been alleged that inefficient operating practices lead to many residents having to make repeated, and futile, visits to the offices to obtain needed documents.
By contrast, residents also allege that those citizens with family members or friends working in the office not only receive their documents promptly, but even have them delivered directly to their door.
