Tripoli, 23 May:
A Sudanese man living in Kufra was wounded last night when a shell hit his house. He was taken . . .[restrict]to hospital but his condition is unknown at present.
Officials in the town say that they do not think the unnamed man was deliberately targeted, rather that he was the unintended victim of a random firing into the air spree.
The neighbourhood of Qadr Fi in where the wounded man lives had seen a significant amount of such shooting in recent days, the officials said, but it had now subsided following the intervention of the Libya Shield force, deployed in the town.
Qadr Fi is a poorer area of Kudfra and is mainly inhabited by Tebu families. As such it has been one of the areas beyond government control following the recent clashes that have pitted Tebus in February against the town’s majority Zway tribe and then in April against government forces including the Libya Shield.
