Tripoli, 3 May:
The government has announced that Monday, 7 May, will be the deadline for the submission of applications from those who . . .[restrict]took part in last year’s revolution for payment of the government grant being made to them.
Applicants must submit the following details:
The ratification of applications will be done by local military council and the local council, and NTC member or battalion (katiba) will ensure confidentiality. Comparison of the new lists with previously distributed lists will be carried out to avoid duplication of names, and payments to occur through bank accounts to avoid fictitious names.
Payments of the grant — LD 4,000 for married men and LD2,300 for unmarried ones — was suspended on 9 April following massive irregularities in claims and payments. The compiling of the lists of those to receive payments and handing out the cash to them were given to local military councils to process. There was littler no verification procedures and there were far more claims than there were men who took part in the revolution last year. On 11 April, government spokesman Nasser Al-Mana said that 450,000 people had made claims up to that point.
No more cash is being handed out. Claimants have to have a bank account into which the money will be transferred. This will be done by 26 May.
