Tripoli, 17 May:
Employees of the Bank of North Africa staged a nationwide protest yesterday following the murder of four of their . . .[restrict]colleagues in an armed robbery the week before last.
Demonstrations were witnessed at Bank of North Africa branches in several Libyan cities, with the demonstrators demanding swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice.
The robbery took place on a convoy transporting LD 2 million from the Central Bank of Libya in Benghazi to the Bank of North Africa in Tobruk on 6 May.
Three of the convoy’s guards were killed, whilst the fourth survived the attack. He, along with the bodies of the other three men, were left by the roadside whilst the attackers fled with the cash.
The money has subsequently been recovered and the robbers arrested. [/restrict]
