Tripoli, April 5: Sources at the Attorney General’s office say that their investigations with Saif Al-Islam Qaddafi on financial matters, have shown . . .[restrict]that he was responsible for the loss of more than LD 1 billion from the Libyan treasury.
The sources did not say whether Saif Al-Islam had been personally interviewed on the matter. He is currently being held in Zintan by the local revolutionaries who captured him last November in the south of the country while trying to flee.
Other charges against Saif Al-Islam including crimes committed last year during the revolution are being investigated separately, the sources said.
It is estimated that over the past ten years some $150 billion went missing from Treasury funds and remains unaccounted for.
