Benghazi, 27 April:
The municipal guard branch in Benghazi destroyed about 230 boxes of Spanish biscuits on Thursday because they did not meet . . .[restrict]approved standards.
The head of the investigation unit at the branch, Major Mohammad Al-Maghribi, was quoted by the Libyan News Agency as saying that the boxes seized during the past two days at a storage depot at the commercial mall were among 3,000 boxes imported by a national company through the port at Tripoli. Al-Maghribi confirmed that some of the seized quantities of biscuits contained flax and poppy seeds.
Sources at Benghazi’s food and medicine control department confirmed that samples of the products showed that the biscuits contained flax and poppy seeds and that the biscuits did not conform to the approved standards and were prohibited in local markets. [/restrict]
