Tripoli, 24 March 2012:
Abdul Hafiz Ghoga has denied reports that he has been appointed Libyan ambassador in Berlin. The reports were circulating on Facebook. . . .[restrict]Government sources said that he was in Germany at present purely for medical reasons.
Gogha was deputy chairman of the NTC until he resigned on January 22 following a series of protests against him. A few days before he resigned he was jostled by angry students when he visited Bengahzi University. They were protesting that under Qaddafi, Gogha had been secretary of the solicitors’ syndicate. The day before his resignation a crowd attacked the NTC office in Benghazi.
The government said in January it intended to evaluate all diplomats who had served the Qaddafi regime. “There is a plan to reassess the embassies and there is a new list for the ambassadors and embassy staff,” a foreign ministry official said at the time. [/restrict]
