Tripoli, 19 April:
The head of the thuwar in the Nasmah region, Hamza Mahdi Sadiq, said that 325 illegal immigrants of different . . .[restrict]nationalities, including nine women, had been detained over the past few days at Mizda.
Sadiq told Libyan News Agency correspondent in Mizda that the immigrants had been medically tested and that 20 of them were HIV positive. He added that due to an inability to carry out further tests at Mizdah hospital, they had been transferred to hospitals in Tripoli and Gharian. The others were handed over to the relevant authorities in order finalise the investigations.
He said that the Nasmah thuwar were very keen to play their part in maintaining the security and safety of Libyan territory.
On Saturday, 30 illegal immigrants were caught in the Mizda area by Gharian’s Qawasim Martyrs Brigade.
At the time, a members of the brigade said that the number of illegal immigrants caught in the area and handed-over to the authorities in Gharian and Tripoli exceeded 400.
