Tripoli, 30 . . .[restrict]May 2015:
The Islamic State (IS) has threatened to bomb Tripoli University and neighbouring Tripoli Medical Centre claiming they are centres of debauchery. It has also told residents in the town of Harawa, 70 kilometres east of Sirte and which it attacked twice this month, that they must surrender.
In a letter believed to be authentic, dated 11 Shaban 1436 (29 May 2015) but published on social media this morning, IS warned parents to stop sending their sons and daughters to the two institutions in the capital, and people to stop going there, describing them as places of sexual immorality and where alcohol was consumed.
The letter, which began with self-congratulations for the capture of Sirte, declared that as of now, the university and hospital were targets for their bombers.
In regards to Harawa, IS told residents that if they want to avoid all being killed, in addition to surrendering they have to hand over all the town’s facilities, all its weapons and a number of named individuals to the jihadists.
There are reports that Harawa started negotiations with IS yesterday.
