Benghazi 7 February 2015:
Benghazi Red Crescent teams have braved fighting in Hawari to evacuate 160 people, both staff and . . .[restrict]patients from the city’s kidney clinic .
The rescuers brought out 56 renal patients along with all of their carers, the majority of them Bangladeshi and Filipinos. They were taken to Benghazi Medical Centre. The Red Crescent members also managed to help to safety 15 families from the Hawari district.
The Benghazi renal clinic was already facing a crisis because lack of medication and failing equipment. There have been reports that dialysis, upon which the lives of many kidney patients depend, would shortly be ceasing at the centre. [/restrict]
