Tripoli, 27 July 2014:
An arms depot in Khoms blew up yesterday afternoon, reportedly killing one man, a Syrian, and . . .[restrict]injuring three others, all Libyans.
A petrol station next to the depot was damaged in the blast and the main coastal road which runs through the town temporarily closed as a result. The blast would have been worse but for the fact that the petrol station is said not to have had any fuel at the time.
The explosion is said to have been an accident although the exact reason has not been divulged. It is reported, however, that arms were being moved at the time from the depot to send to Central Libya Shield forces in Tripoli.
Many arms depots are kept in poor condition, and there have been an number of accidents and explosions. [/restrict]
