Tripoli, 23 April 2014:
The US embassy in Libya has denied rumours that it has been subject to any . . .[restrict]sort of attack.
“The embassy has not been attacked, either last night or today,” a US embassy spokesman told the Libya Herald.
Rumours were sparked after there was heavy firing in the area last night and movement of troops on the Airport Road this morning.
There were reports last night of several rockets being fired near the Airport Road, one of which hit a residential property less than a kilometre away from the embassy, a local resident said.
Only moderate structural damage was caused, but family members who were inside the building at the time were very shaken, he said. He added that no other buildings or properties in the area appeared to have been hit. [/restrict]
