Tripoli, 16 April 2014:
The headquarters of Obari Joint Security Room was attacked yesterday by gunmen trying to free a . . .[restrict]detainee.
Spokesman for Obari Joint Security Room Bashir Al-Mabrouk Younis told the Libya Herald that a number of young men armed with PKT rifles and other automatic weapons attacked the headquarters injuring one member of security staff.
“The young men were attacked over the detention of an associate who was held for an earlier public disturbance,” he said.
Obari, a majority Tuareg town, has seen far fewer outbreaks of violence than its neighbour Sebha which has been plagued by armed tribal clashes. Younis said, however, security forces were deeply troubled by the incident and were working closely with elders to address the grievances of young people in the town. [/restrict]
