Benghazi, 27 April 2015:
Gunmen, believed to be from the Islamic State (IS) based in Derna have attacked an . . .[restrict]Libyan National Army (LNA) checkpoint at Lamluda near Guba. It has resulted in the deaths of two LNA soldiers and one other wounded.
According to reports, the gunmen arrived cross-country by foot for the surprise attack, first launching rocket propelled grenades then firing with semi-automatic rifles.
Hearing the shooting, a number of local residents reportedly rushed to the scene of the clashes in support of guards as did soldiers from another checkpoint. This resulted in the attackers pulling back. They were then pursued across the scrub by an LNA vehicle. However, it appears to have hit a mine, which is when the two were killed and the third wounded.
It is not known who laid the mine.
The attackers escaped. [/restrict]
