Tripoli, 18 August 2014:
The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has condemned the escalation of military action in . . .[restrict]Tripoli and its surrounding areas and has called on all parties to work toward ending the security deterioration.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Mission denounced again the indiscriminate shelling of residential neighbourhoods and said that it “deeply regrets” the lack of response to the repeated appeals by the international community for an immediate ceasefire.
UNSMIL said that it would continue to work to ensure Libya’s national interest and appealed to all parties to cooperate with its efforts to address the current crisis, starting with a cessation of the fighting. [/restrict]
