Tripoli, 14 May 2014:
Five staff members from the Ministry of Culture’s Department of Antiquities concluded a training course . . .[restrict]organized by the International Centre for Conservation in Rome yesterday.
According to the Ministry of Culture’s social media site, staff received training on the discovery, restoration, conservation and transportation of mosaics. With a key objective of capacity building, the Centre in Rome covered the expenses of these trainings.
Department of Antiquities Chairman Abdul Rahman Yakhlaf and Director of Archaeological Research and Studies Mustafa Turjman attended the closing ceremonies of the training program. In a meeting with Roberto Nardi, Director of the Conservation Centre, Nardi briefed them on the course outcomes, stressed that Libya’s mosaic heritage must be preserved and expressed his pleasure with the level reached by the trainees.
The Centre has developed a plan to invite additional trainees to attend another advanced course to be held at the same location during the latter half of the month of May.
