Deputy Culture Minister at OIC meeting in Gabon

Tripoli, 22 April:

The deputy minister of culture and civil society Awatef Tashanni has called for a strategy to establish an Islamic . . .[restrict]media that would contribute to the development of human resources and to inform the international political and media sectors.

She made the call at the 9th conference of media ministers at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Gabon capital Libreville which ended on Friday. She led the Libyan delegation.

Tashanni talked about the positive role of the media in supporting Libyan people.   She also said that Libya was committed to all decisions and agreements of the OIC and that it would be an active member in carrying out the OIC’s plans as far as possible.

The two-day conference for media ministers, entitled “Using Media Technologies for Promoting Peace and Development” was attended by representatives from 50 countries out of the 57 members countries in the organization, as well as by the president of Gabon, Ali Bongo, and he chairman of the OIC Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu.
