The Sarir power station resumed full production yesterday morning reaching an output of . . .[restrict]250 MW.
The resumption comes as a result of the 62nd anniversary of the Libya’s Independence says Hashim Almaliki, head of the Sarir power station.
Almaliki told Libya herald today that workers at the beleaguered power station had decided to resume work despite all the security difficulties they had faced over the last few days.
A semblance of security, Almaliki explained, is now being offered by the so called “electricity police”, a police unit charged with the protecting of General Electricity Company of Libya’s (GECOL) sites.
Almaliki added that the Sarir power station workers were keen to keep the station working in order to avoid further technical and efficiency complications to the generators.
The resumption of work by Sarir power station will come as welcomed news by the whole country as it was explained by GECOL on Sunday that the knock-on effect of the Sarir generation shortfall would have been felt all over the country in the form of power cuts.
