Opinion article not fair

From Dr Fatima Hamroush, Former Minister of Health

Dear Editor,

With reference to the opinion article by Sufyan Maghur published on 12 December, . . .[restrict]I am surprised, to say the least, that you published it.

There is a new wave of rumour-spreading campaign against me, and again, for doing the right thing: being frank, honest and clearly facing chancers and fraudsters who committed crimes in the name of the revolution.

I was amazed at how the Irish Times article was falsely translated and spread. However, I was more than amazed to find a person who speaks good English taking the false translation instead of the original article and using it to write the English article, all falsified.

To make it even worse, looking at the original speech, you can clearly see that what I said at the conference should make any Libyan proud, rather than at what I was subjected to.

I always voiced my opinion, since January 2012, rather than what he claims in the article. And that was the very reason I got these repeated media attacks, wave after wave, lead by either ignorants or people who had personal agendas.

Free media does not mean spreading rumours and propagating them.

Thank you.

Dr Fatima Hamroush,
Former Minister of Health

Editor’s note:  In his Opinion article, Mr Maghur says that he does “not feel sympathetic to any ex-official coming out now with horror stories about their term to try and gain support for their own ego. I would have supported them and given them my voice if they did it while they were serving the people.”

Dr Hamroush spoke twice on the subject in the Libya Herald before leaving office.

The speech in full is available here:  [/restrict]
