Amidst the momentum of the Libyan healthcare system under the Ministry of Health’s 100-day Plan, Al-Hadba Al-Khadra General Hospital achieved a historic medical milestone by performing the first wireless (leadless) pacemaker implantation in Libya on a patient suffering from a slow heart rate.
The Health Ministry said this procedure demonstrated the efficiency and competence of Libyan medical staff, who utilized an advanced technology known as a “wireless pacemaker.” This device is implanted directly into the heart without the need for traditional wires, thus reducing risks, accelerating recovery, and providing the patient with a better quality of life.
This achievement is the first of its kind in Libya and the eighth on the African continent, placing Libya among the leading countries in adopting the latest global medical technologies. The Health Ministry said this reflects the tangible impact of its directives in developing the sector and raising the standard of services provided to Libyan citizens.
It added that this step confirms that investing in national medical competencies and providing the appropriate technical environment yields real results on the ground and that the 100-day Plan is progressing towards achieving its goals towards a health system that befits the Libyan citizen.
