A joint Libyan-Italian workshop entitled “Libyan-Italian Relations: Towards a Comprehensive and Sustainable Model” was held in Tripoli yesterday.

The Privatization and Investment Board (PIB) was represented at the workshop by Mohamed Al-Shawish, Director of the Investment Affairs Department, and Ahmed Dagdag, Head of the Promotion and Technical Cooperation Section. They participated in discussions focused on strengthening economic and investment cooperation between Libya and Italy.

The workshop addressed mechanisms for developing economic and investment partnerships, supporting the business environment by activating the role of relevant institutions, and exchanging expertise in the fields of development, training, and higher education. Participants also discussed ways to expand cooperation through chambers of commerce and relevant authorities, and to streamline financial and banking procedures to encourage companies and investors to participate in joint projects between the two countries.

Speaking exclusively to the Libya Herald, Mohamed Al-Shawish affirmed that this workshop represents an important step towards establishing a more effective economic partnership between Libya and Italy. He noted that “unifying the visions of the public and private sectors in both countries will open up broad horizons for joint investment and enhance investor confidence in the Libyan economic environment.” He added that the PIB is working to support all initiatives that contribute to improving the business climate and expanding the base of international cooperation.

This workshop is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Libyan-Italian relations and build upon the historical ties between the two countries, contributing to supporting sustainable development and opening new horizons for economic cooperation in the coming phase..
