The Minister of Housing and Construction, Abubaker Awidat, held a meeting yesterday with officials from the China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC), one of China’s largest construction, engineering, and infrastructure companies.
The meeting was attended by Amin Issa Al-Bakoush, a member of the High Committee for Supervising Libyan Chinese Cooperation; Rajab Al-Dali, Director of the Tripoli City Development Authority; Abdul Latif Al-Khazmi, Director of the Projects Department at the Ministry; and Abdul Majeed Al-Gatrani, Director of the Minister’s Office.
Cooperation and partnership in implementing infrastructure and public works projects in Libya
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to cooperate and partner in implementing infrastructure and public works projects in Libya. They also discussed joint investment opportunities and the exchange of technical expertise in several fields between the Ministry of Housing and Construction and the Chinese company.
Joint Committee formed – to review stalled projects and report in two weeks
It was agreed to form a joint committee that will work for two weeks and submit a final report to the Minister. The committee’s task is to review previously contracted projects that have been stalled for years and assess the company’s readiness to contract for new projects and invest in the construction of new housing units, in line with the Prime Minister’s National Housing Programme initiative.
