Tarros Group has renewed and upgraded the shipping service connecting Italy with Libya, Trasporto Europa said yesterday.
This consolidates a logistics axis that for more than fifty years has been a strategic priority for the company and for Italian industry. The new direct service, named Italy Libya Express (ILE), combines increased frequency with shorter transit times, providing a competitive solution for container transport between the two countries.
Departures from La Spezia, scheduled every ten days, link the main industrial hubs of northern Italy directly with the Libyan ports of Tripoli and Misrata. Shipments originating in southern Italy are served by multiple weekly departures from Salerno via La Spezia, allowing efficient coordination and flexible management of logistics flows. The service rotation also includes a call at Malta, designed to handle local traffic to and from Libya. Tarros notes that the renewed connection contributes to more sustainable logistics, in line with emission-reduction targets in maritime transport.
The group’s direct presence in Libya is a key element of the new strategy. Tarros operates two offices in Tripoli and Misrata,where local staff provide commercial and operational support. This presence enables the company to assist Italian businesses with procedures linked to regulations issued by Libya’s Ministry of Economy and Trade, recently suspended but expected to govern authorised banking channels for future import and export operations.
According to Valentina De Bernardi, commercial director of Tarros, the relaunch of the Italy–Libya service stems from operational needs but also carries important economic and commercial implications.
The group’s long-standing experience in the country and Libya’s strategic role in relations with Italy are driving Tarros to invest in an express link that meets rising transport demand. “High quality standards, dedicated assistance and operational flexibility define this service, which is fully integrated into the network of connections that Tarros offers its customers every day,” De Bernardi said.
