The Department of Support and Development of Medical Services (DSDMS) reported today that it had signed a partnership agreement with the German Ottobock‎ Company‎, a leader in the prosthetics industry, in the presence of Tripoli based Libyan Prime Minister Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba.‎

‎The agreement includes the supply of raw materials and materials necessary for the manufacture of prosthetics, in addition to the employment and training of national cadres within the National Centre for ‎‎Prosthetics, and the Department of‎‎ Prosthetics at Abu Salim Accident Hospital and to provide the service in the future to all Libyan cities.‎

‎The DSDMS said Ottobock is one of the best international companies specialised in the manufacture of prosthetics, and it has returned to Libya after an absence of more than 9 years, in implementation of government resolution No. 315 of 2024.‎

‎This agreement, the DSDMS said, comes within the framework of the Tripoli based Libyan government’s “Localising Treatment” project.‎

It will be recalled that in July, a delegation from Ottobock had visited the Prosthetics Department at Abu Salim Hospital to assess its needs requirements.
